Thank you! Substack just recommended your page to me, and I enjoyed this immensely. (I am by no means a scholar but dabbled in medieval history and religion as an undergrad. Wasn’t Augustine following Origen in describing the symbolic (analogic, anagogic) meanings of the text?)

Much respect for difficult choices 👏🏻 When we wonder why medieval art and life is weird, I refer to Tuchman. We can't imagine life like they had, but what does remain now is what we have in common with them. Cheers!
